Title: Building HOPE: An Introduction to the Power of Positive Childhood Experiences
Description:
We build HOPE when we support families’ access to key Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) that support children to grow into resilient adults. PCEs not only contribute to positive health outcomes, they also can mitigate the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). Join this two-hour workshop to review research about the impact of PCEs and learn about the development of the Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences (HOPE) Framework developed by the HOPE National Resource Center at Tufts Medical Center. Through reflection and small group conversation we will identify ways to ensure that parents and children have equitable access to the Four Building Blocks of HOPE: Relationships, Environments, Engagement, and Emotional Growth. Leave with a renewed sense of HOPE and resources you can use in your work to support families.
Participants will:
- Explore the research on the impact of positive childhood experiences (PCEs) on healthy adulthood and how they can mitigate the effects of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).
- Identify the four Building Blocks of HOPE that represent the most impactful positive childhood experiences.
- Consider how they can create positive childhood experiences and ensure that families have equitable access to the Building Blocks in their community.
