Event Information
The Family Support Webinars are online learning sessions hosted by the Center for Schools and Communities with support from the Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL).
The information for the webinar is below:
- Title: Partnership from the Start: Building Family Buy-In
- Description:
Drawing from her work as a school social worker and therapist in private practice, Angelina Romano will discuss how effective family engagement starts with clarity. The webinar will focus on setting a clear, collaborative foundation from the beginning so families understand the purpose of services, what is expected, what support is available, and how staff will partner with them as they progress toward their goals.
We’ll discuss practical strategies for building rapport, identifying family strengths and priorities, addressing barriers, and connecting families to goals that feel both realistic and meaningful. Motivational interviewing and solution-focused approaches will also support difficult conversations and help work through resistance, while honoring each family’s experiences and expertise.
- Acknowledgement of Participation: An email acknowledging participation will follow the event. No certificates, credits, or stipends are available for this event.
- Recording: This webinar will be recorded and posted with captions.
