DESCRIPTION:
This event will provide training on intermediate and advanced information related to the implementation of the Essential for Living assessment and curriculum for staff supporting students with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities or Autism. Essential for Living is a comprehensive life skills curriculum with social validity, evidence-based teaching, and measurement strategies and procedures, that result in the dignity and quality of life that children and adults with moderate to severe disabilities and limited skill repertoires richly deserve.
Participants will:
- Understand the essential components of the EFL assessment
- Understand the essential skills addressed within the EFL curriculum
- Further explore intermediate and advanced topics related to the assessment of students with moderate to severe disabilities
- Gain further knowledge and skills related to the implementation of the Essential for Living curriculum for students with moderate to severe disabilities

Date: August 30, 2023
Time: 8:30-4:00
Location: Central Susquehanna Intermedaite Unit
Cost: no cost for staff from K-12 public education within the CSIU catchment region; $250 per person for other agencies or staff outside of the CSIU region (includes the cost of an EFL Teaching Manual and EFL Handbook for each participant)
Act 48: 7 hours will be awarded
Target Audience: Special Educators, Paraeducators, Related Service Providers
