DESCRIPTION:
No student—regardless of background or experience—approaches a concept, topic, or skill “empty.” (Hocket 2013)
In this workshop participants will learn how to create a readiness pre-assessment to gather evidence about students’ pre-requisite knowledge, skills and understandings needed to access the concepts in the next unit of instruction-finding out what students do know and explain how to interpret readiness pre-assessment data as a starting point to differentiate instruction.
Participants will:
- learn that a readiness pre-assessment is a way to gather evidence about students’ pre-requisite knowledge, skills and understandings needed to access the concepts in the next unit of instruction-finding out what students do know.
- Describe what a readiness pre-assessment is and why it is important,
- Explain characteristics of high-quality readiness pre-assessments,
- Create a readiness pre-assessment for a unit of instruction using tools and resources provided
- Explain how to interpret readiness pre-assessment data as a starting point to differentiate instruction.
DETAILS:
- Location: Zoom Training (registered users will be provided Zoom details prior to event. This link will be unique to each user and is utilized for Act48 reporting (see Act48 below). link will be emailed to registrant the morning of the event).
- Time: 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm
- Cost: $10 per participant
- Target Audience: K-12 educators, administrators
- Registration Deadline: Friday, October 9, 2020 by 12:00 pm.
- Act 48 hours: 1.5 (must attend entire event to earn Act 48 hours. No partial hours will be given. The CSIU will uplod Act 48 hours for this event to the PDE PERMS system). Only registered users will receive Act48 hours. Anyone requesting Act 48 hours must provide the correct PPID# and provide proof of attendance (sign-in and sign-out roster provided at the event) and complete an evaluation which will be provided by the presenter.
