Pennsylvania's economic future depends on having a well-educated and skilled workforce that is prepared to meet the curent and projected demands of a global, knowledge-based 21st century economy. A 'Teacher in the Workplace' program provides educators an opportunity to participate in real-world, employer-based experiences that they can use to inform classroom instruction and prepare their students for career, college and community success. During this one-day workshop, participants will examine effective TIW practices, Career Readiness Indicators, labor market information and work-based learning opportunities for students. - Educators will learn about aligning academic content to workforce needs; - Educators will increase student career and work-based learning outcome experiences by connecting with business and industry partners; and - Educators will expand access to historically underserved and economically disadvantaged students. DETAILS: --- Location: CSIU Conference & Learning Center - Susquehanna A&B --- Registration & refreshments: 8:30 am --- Workshop: 9 am to 3 pm --- Cost: Complimentary - Districts will be reimbursed $200 per educator who attends the training up to a max. of $1000 per district. --- Lunch: will be provided --- Target Audience: Principals, Teachers, Counselors and Curriculum Coordinators (K-12) --- Registration Deadline: April 2, 2020 by 12:00 pm --- Act 48 hours: 5 (must attend entire event to earn Act 48 hours. No partial hours will be given. The CSIU will upload Act 48 hours for this event to the PDE PERMS system). Anyone requesting Act 48 hours must provide the correct PPID# and provide proof of attendance (sign-in and sign-out roster provided at the event).
