The 3-day workshop for K-12 science teachers on Ambitious science teaching practices and student-centered learning provides an opportunity for K-12 science teachers to deepen their pedagogical understanding and gain practical strategies for implementing these practices in their classrooms. Through interactive presentations, hands-on activities, and collaborative discussions, teachers will learn how to create a classroom culture that fosters curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. The workshop will emphasize the importance of the phenomenon, scientific discourse, and sense-making activities, giving teachers the tools they need to engage their students in authentic scientific practices. By focusing on student-centered learning, teachers will learn how to empower their students to take ownership of their learning and develop the skills they need to succeed in the 21st century. Through collaborative problem-solving and group work, teachers will also gain a better understanding of how to create an inclusive learning environment that supports all students. By the end of the workshop, teachers will have a deeper understanding of Ambitious science teaching practices and student-centered learning and will be well-equipped to start to implement these approaches in their own classrooms, inspiring a lifelong love of science in their students.
