Introduction to 3D Teaching and PA Science Standards - Event Information
Event Date and Time
Pennsylvania is preparing to release updated science standards. These standards are written in three dimensions - disciplinary core ideas, scientific and engineering practices, and crosscutting concepts. This two-hour professional development is intended to introduce teachers to a 3D phenomenon-based lesson, point out what 3D teaching and learning look like in the classroom, and the types of shifts that will be needed for the teacher. We will also investigate how the new standards relate to ELA and math. The lesson finishes with a look at the proposed standards. If time permits, we will have a discussion on what evaluation might look like and how other PA districts are already using this type of standard in their science classrooms.
Teachers will gain introductory competency in 3D phenomenon-based teaching and learning.
