This training will provide various techniques of annotating, scaffolding questions, and academic conversations in both informational and literary text to build critical thinking skills and increase students ability to understand and analyze text. Participants will be able to: * Select appropriate close reading texts both informational and literary * Learn annotation strategies to build comprehension * Create scaffolds that develop inferencing skills * Identify and practice talk/questioning moves that builds analytical thinking * Determine the difference between inference and analysis in student responses * Experience and create a log of instructional approaches to teach analysis in all content areas. EVENT DETAILS: --- Dates: November 17, 2020 --- Location: CSIU Conference & Learning Center - Susquehanna B --- Cost: $75 per person --- Lunch: will be on your own --- Target Audience: Gr. 3-8 All Content Teachers, Special Education Teachers, Reading Specialists, Instructional Coaches, Administrators --- Registration Deadline: November 10, 2020 by 12:00 pm --- Act 48 hours: 5.0 (must attend entire event to earn Act 48 hours. No partial hours will be given. The CSIU will upload Act 48 hours for this event to the PDE PERMS system). Anyone requesting Act 48 hours must provide the correct PPID# and provide proof of attendance (sign-in and sign-out roster provided at the event). PAYMENT METHODS: --- Credit Card: If you choose this payment option, please be advised that if you are a district and having several staff attending, our system does not allow for group registrations at this time. For credit card refunds, please allow three-four weeks for processing. --- P.O. (Purchase Order) If you choose this payment option, we will not bill your district or organization until after the event. If you do not have a P.O. number when registering, please feel free to place your district or organization name in the space provided.
