Raising a Thinking Child (RaTC) Training for Parent Educators, Coaching and Consultation - Event Information
Event Date and Time
Raising a Thinking Child (RaTC) is a companion program to the evidence-based classroom program, I Can Problem Solve (ICPS) program, developed by Dr. Myrna Shure. In addition to addressing social and emotional learning for children, RaTC touches on cognitive learning and builds vocabulary that prepares children for success in school. Raising a Thinking Child is designed to help parents learn to talk with children (ages 4 and older) about problem solving using an approach which involves children in the process of thinking about what they do and why they do it. RaTC provides parents with young children with concrete, interactive activities to help their children learn to solve “people” problems. The activities give guidance to parents for having conversations with their children that promote ways for children to resolve everyday conflicts and get along with others. During this training for parent educators, participants will learn how to deliver the RaTC parent program to parents and families within the organizations they represent.
Participants are expected to attend each RaTC virtual training session in its entirety in order to be certified to implement RaTC with families in their organizations. Sessions will be facilitated by two ICPS International Trainers. Training participants are provided with five hours of virtual consultation with their training cohort to support implementation of RaTC in the United States.
Participants will receive a certificate of completion at the conclusion of the training.
For participants interested in implementing RaTC outside of the United States, additional consultation is required. Please contact Stephanie Colvin-Roy, Lead ICPS international trainer, at email@example.com.
Please note: This training does not provide participants with the ability to provide fee-based RaTC Training of Trainers.
